No-exam life insurance
Which applicants qualify for quick underwriting, how the process works, and what happens if you don't.
Today many carriers offer accelerated underwriting: for applicants within age and amount thresholds, they underwrite using the application, pharmacy information, driving history and comparable data instead of an exam. Approvals sometimes come within hours. This site shows for each quote whether an exam is needed, conditional or not required.
What it changes
Faster underwriting does not bypass underwriting itself. Carriers check your answers against data; policies issued based on wrong information can be challenged in the first two years. If any concerns surface, the carrier may request tests or exams; you can reassess at that point.
Who tends to qualify
Commonly available to applicants under roughly 60 requesting coverage up to the carrier's accelerated underwriting limit, without serious prior health issues and without tobacco use within the past year or longer. Recent blood work from your doctor may be accepted in place of an exam with some carriers.
An exam is typically done by a paramedic at your home or workplace in the Santa Rosa area and takes 20 to 30 minutes, at no charge to you. Results can improve your rate class for healthy applicants, so exams are not inherently unfavorable.
